The Margarita cocktail, as we were saying, is a drink made with tequila, orange liqueur and lime or lemon juice. Although it can be served in many containers, it has its own glass with the same name as the cocktail. The Margarita glass is a crystal glass with a stepped rim, as if it were an inverted sombrero. And it is common to serve the glass with the rim frosted with salt.
This cocktail originated in Mexico, although we do not know its inventor, as many stories and legends revolve around it. But below, we will see some of the most popular ones.

Its refreshing flavor and the combination of tequila and lime go great with the strong, spicy and spicy flavors of this colorful cuisine. And, without further ado, let’s get to the recipe for a great Margarita Cocktail.
Margarita Cocktail Recipe (and some tricks to make it perfect)
Triple sec, or triple sec, is a liqueur made with orange peel. It has this name due to its elaboration, since it is triple distilled. We have chosen Cointreau, but you can also choose a Grand Marnier.
To get a Margarita of ten, use quality limes or lemons (better if they are the first ones, since it is the ingredient of the original recipe). And squeeze them at the moment of preparing the cocktail.
The rest of the preparation is as simple as mixing the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, since we have to shake it vigorously. But if we do not have one, we always have alternatives. For example, using any airtight container where we can add the ingredients and shake them without them coming out.
And remember to frost the rim with salt! One of the hallmarks of the Margarita is its salt-frosted rim. To do this, moisten the rim of the glass with a small piece of lime, especially on the outside; but do not overdo it, as we want it to be a thin line. Once we have moistened the entire rim of the glass with a thin line of lime juice, we put salt on a plate, well spread out, and put the rim of the glass on it. Press lightly so that the salt adheres to the lime and that’s it!

History of the most popular Tequila Cocktail
Although we do not know the history of this cocktail with certainty, these are some of the most popular legends about its origin.
The oldest one places the origin of the Margarita cocktail in 1938. When Carlos Herrera, the owner of a restaurant devised a cocktail for one of his best customers. The woman was a former dancer, named Ziegfeld Marjorie. The story goes that Marjorie was allergic to different liquors, but not to tequila. Therefore, Carlos Herrera created a cocktail exclusively for her, naming it Margarita in her honor.
Another story that tries to find the origin of this cocktail, again takes us to Mexico. It tells that a young bartender, who worked in a bar in Tijuana, devised this cocktail inspired by his platonic love, a young and unknown dancer named Margarita Carmen Cansino, who later triumphed in Hollywood and around the world. She would then be known as Rita Hayworh.
And finally, the last of the stories that circulate around this cocktail takes place in 1942. Again in Mexico, this time in the city of Ensenada. This story tells that the bartender Lorenzo Hernandez invented this cocktail under the request of a good customer of his place; who wanted to surprise his wife with a very special personalized gift: a drink with his two favorite ingredients, tequila and lemon.
The woman was delighted with the combination, so she asked the bartender for the name of the cocktail. He replied, “It’s named after you, Margarita”.
Whatever the real story behind the origin of this cocktail, what is clear is that it originated in Mexico; and, whoever inspired it, it was in any case a beautiful woman.
Try other versions of the Margarita cocktail by changing the lime juice for any other fruit juice.
In this recipe, we have prepared the classic Margarita cocktail, but there are as many versions as liqueurs and fruit juices we can find. For example, we can find a multitude of Margaritas in different flavors, simply changing the triple sec for another fruit liqueur, or even replacing the lime juice with the juice of other fruits such as pineapple, watermelon, melon, raspberry, strawberry…
And although it is a very refreshing drink thanks to its ingredients, we can also boil it with ice to make it even more summery. It even has a version similar to a slushie, the Frozen Margarita.
But be careful with the Margarita, as it goes down very well due to its pleasant taste and the fact that it is very refreshing. But we must not forget that it is an alcoholic drink.
