We are already well into the Christmas season, and we are still like crazy looking for the most original canapés to dress our table, because there are still very important days left. And, although we already have in mind the menu we are going to prepare this Christmas, it never seems enough. So to expand our collection of Christmas canapes, today we bring you some delicious black pudding canapes with apple, a combination that will not leave anyone indifferent this Christmas.
The strong and powerful flavor of black pudding can often complicate the task of preparing canapés with it. But the apple, with its mild flavor and sweet touch, creates the perfect combination for an exquisite bite. Even so, if you prefer a softer canapé, we can always substitute the black pudding for a black pudding pâté. We can elaborate it in a very simple way by combining the black pudding with cream cheese.
Black Puddinng Canapes with Apple for Christmas
We will accompany these canapés with some caramelized onion to give it a much richer touch. But you can omit this step if you prefer canapés with only black pudding and apple.
The apple will also be lightly grilled, until it is lightly browned. This will enhance its flavor. And although you can take this canapé cold, freshly made it is spectacular.
And we will finish cooking the grilled blood sausage, removing the tripe, so that it melts in the pan. Now all that remains is to assemble our canapés. Let’s go through the recipe step by step.
Black Puddinng Canape with Apple
- Toasts or bread, to taste (for canapés)
- 1 Black pudding
- 1 Apple
- 1 Onion
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- Spreadable cheese
- 1 Tbsp Butter
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- We start by chopping the onion into julienne strips. In a frying pan, we put the onion and sugar, over medium heat. Without stopping to move cook for about 10 minutes until it is semi caramelized. Set aside.
- Wash the apple and cut it into half moons after removing the core. It is not necessary to peel it, but it is a matter of taste. In the same pan that we did the onion, add a tablespoon of butter and, when it has melted, brown the apple, over medium-high heat. Set aside.
- Now add a drizzle of oil to the frying pan and, when it is hot, add the blood sausage, without the casing. With a wooden spoon, while we cook it, we crumble it. Cook for about 5 minutes, until it is ready. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
And with this we finish these great Black Pudding with Apple Canapes. If you liked them, do not hesitate to try them at home. They are super easy to prepare.
