Tuna is a very versatile fish. With both fresh tuna and canned tuna we can make all kinds of recipes. Very varied and different from each other, but with something in common: very healthy and tasty. In addition, tuna has a multitude of cuts, thanks to which we can obtain very different parts of this fish. And today, we are going to use a very specific one: the Tarantelo. Do not miss this simple but spectacular Tuna Tarantelo salad recipe.
The tarantelo is one of the most representative cuts of tuna. In addition to its flavor and texture, for its versatility. The tarantelo is one of the noble parts of the tuna, those that come from the muscle mass. And it is located at the end of the trunk, that is, it is part of the white back.
It is a cut with great flavor, but with less fat than the ventresca.
Although it is a very versatile part, which we can use in a multitude of recipes, especially stews, today we are going to prepare it in a very simple and light way: in salad.
Tuna tarantelo can be found fresh or canned. For this preparation, we have opted for canned tuna, as it will look better in our salad. You will see that it is a meat that separates easily into slices. If you cannot find it, you can perfectly replace it with a canned tuna belly in olive oil.
Tuna Tarantelo Salad Recipe
You will see that preparing this salad is very simple and quick. The most time consuming part is cooking the eggs. So, if you don’t have any in the fridge, since we are going to boil the water, take the opportunity to boil some extra eggs to have them ready for other occasions.
The rest of the recipe is very simple. You will see that the ingredients are not complex at all. We have chosen to add piparras, or fresh chilli peppers. These are the fresh chili peppers that you can find in jars, canned. They are delicious and will provide a touch of very soft spiciness but that combines great with the tarantelo.
But if you do not want to add this spicy point, you can always omit this ingredient. Or replace it with any other that you like.
Like all salads, this one is also very versatile. So, use your imagination, and add or combine the ingredients as you prefer. Some options, which we have not used, are peppers, both red and green, raw. Corn will also look great, or olives.

Tuna Tarantelo Salad
Ingredients
- 200 g Tuna Tarantelo (you can substitute it with canned tuna belly)
- 1/2 spring onion
- 12 Cherries tomatoes
- 1 Cucumber
- 1 Boiled egg
- 1 Fresh chili pepper
- 1 Lemon
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt
Instructions
- If you do not have boiled eggs, the first thing to do is to put a saucepan on the fire with water. Add the eggs and boil for 10 minutes. After that time, cool under the tap and peel. Set aside.1 Boiled egg
- We continue chopping the vegetables. We start with the spring onion, cut it into small cubes.Wash the cherries well and cut them in halves. Add both ingredients in a bowl.1/2 spring onion, 12 Cherries tomatoes
