Baked Sea Bream for Christmas Recipe
For this recipe we are going to prepare a super simple accompaniment: some baked potatoes that we will previously fry lightly. Since the fish is done in a very short time, we will put the potatoes in the oven already cooked so that they are well done.
But, in addition to the potatoes, we can serve a more complete garnish if we accompany it with some vegetables. Later we will see some ideas for the garnish of this Baked Sea Bream for Christmas.
The rest of the recipe is very simple. Before beginning we will ask the fishmonger to prepare us the gilthead bream to cook it in the oven. So that he cleans it to us leaving it open and with the central thorn in one of the sides. Thus, once cooked, we will be able to cut it in smaller portions in a simpler way.
When we have the potatoes ready, we place them in the oven tray and, on them, we place the sea bream loins with the skin down. We will make a majao with the garlic, the parsley and a little lemon juice, and we will paint the gilthead bream with this mixture. We finish covering the sea bream fillets with some lemon slices and we are ready to bake. Sprinkle with a small glass of white wine and bake.
The rest will be done by the oven. Let’s see this great recipe step by step:
Christmas Baked Sea Bream Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Sea bream
- 3 Potatoes
- 1 Onion
- 1 Glass of white wine
- 2 Lemons
- 4 Garlic cloves
- Parsley
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions
- Let's start by peeling the potatoes and the onion. Once peeled, we cut them into slices. In a wide pot we put enough oil to fry them. When it is hot, fry the potatoes and onion over medium heat for about 15 minutes, until they are soft.
- Once ready, remove them to a plate with absorbent kitchen paper, to remove the excess oil. Place them in the oven tray.
- On the potatoes we put the loins of the gilthead bream, skin side down.Meanwhile we are going to prepare the majao. Peel the garlic and put them in the mortar, together with the chopped parsley and the juice of a lemon. Crush well. We paint the gilthead bream with this mixture and season both the gilthead bream and the potatoes with salt and pepper.
- On the sea bream loins we put a slice of lemon. Add the glass of white wine.
- Now we only have to bake, with the oven preheated to 180ºC, for about 15 minutes approx. It is not necessary to cook the gilthead bream too much, because they would be very dry. After that time, check that they are ready and serve a sea bream loin and a few potatoes with onion.
This simple recipe can be prepared with many other fish. Although it is spectacular with sea bream, other fish such as hake, sea bass or sea bream will also be delicious with this recipe. So, if you want to try something else, or you prefer one of these fish, follow this same recipe with them.
