Although Ramen has become a very popular Japanese dish, the truth is that its origin is in China. In the 17th century, this dish was brought to Japan by Zhu, an exiled Chinese politician and writer. According to legend, Zhu was welcomed by a Japanese feudal king, who, in gratitude, prepared him a noodle dish with broth.
Whether this legend is true or not, China and Japan have had a constant cultural exchange for centuries.
As we said, there are as many Ramen recipes in Japan as there are villages. And with its growing internationalization, the number of recipes has multiplied to adapt it to the ingredients of each country.
But of all the ingredients that can be added to Ramen, without a doubt one of the most striking and typical is Naruto.
Its name comes from the sea whirlwinds (very frequent) that occur in the coastal town of Naruto (southern Japan). And it is nothing more than pressed fish paste (surimi type) with food coloring.
