Tomato and Garlic Salad, a simple dish with ingredients that we always have in the kitchen

Today we bring you a dish that, as simple as it is, we could not call it a recipe. But we do want to share it so that it is not lost in oblivion. It is one of those humble, old, simple dishes, from when we used to cook with what we had in the pantry or what the land gave us at any given moment. And although we have at our disposal a multitude of different ingredients, we must not forget these classics in which, in its simplicity, lies all its charm. This is what happens in this tomato and garlic salad. A perfect dish for a dinner when we do not want to cook, or ideal as a garnish for any main dish.

Surely you have all tried this simple dish, which is no less good for having few ingredients. Well, if we get some quality tomatoes, this recipe is a delicacy.
Try to get tomatoes as natural as possible, and that have flavor. Forget to buy them in the supermarket, because, almost the only ingredient of this salad is the tomato, and it would not taste anything if we prepare it with tomatoes sold in any supermarket. It is better to go to the greengrocer and get some quality tomatoes.

Tomato and Garlic Salad Recipe

This dish consists only of tomato cut, to our taste, in slices or half moons. And accompanied simply with chopped garlic. It is very simple and does not need more than a drizzle of oil and a pinch of salt to be spectacular.
But, precisely because it is so simple, it admits a multitude of variations and extra ingredients that we can add. You will see in our recipe that we have chosen to add oregano, but you can perfectly substitute it for any other spice you like. It will also look great with any type of cheese or even with balsamic vinegar.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 tomatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Oregano
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Salt

Instructions
 

  • Wash the tomatoes very well. Remove the core and cut them to taste. Either in slices, or in half moons, as you prefer. Place them on a plate.

  • Finely chop the garlic and spread it over the tomatoes. Sprinkle a little oregano, a pinch of salt and water with a generous drizzle of oil.
    Now you have a great express salad ready.
