If there are two ingredients that combine well, they are mozzarella and tomato. Two classics of salads that give a very fresh touch to any dish where we include them. In fact, there are elaborations where they are the real protagonists, such as the caprese salad. Where simplicity is the key to the dish. And the same happens with the recipe we bring you today, where less is more. Don’t miss this recipe of Mozarella Bruschetta with tomato. A starter or appetizer of the simplest, that in addition, you can serve both cold and hot; and, with which you will always succeed.
Bruschetta is a typical Italian preparation, corresponding to the antipasto, the starters.
They consist of slices of toasted bread, to which different ingredients can be added on top. They can be served either hot or cold, just like our toasts.
You can make bruschettas with any ingredient, but there is one detail that we cannot overlook: the bread must always be toasted. Traditionally, the bread slices are finished in the oven or on the grill.
As this is a very simple recipe, try to use ingredients of the best possible quality. Try to buy tomatoes as natural as you can find, organically grown. They will have a much more powerful flavor and our bruschettas will be spectacular.
Regarding the bread, you can use the one you like the most. You can even prepare your own homemade bread. I prefer to use normal loaves so that the toasts are not too big.
And, as we said at the beginning, you can serve the mozzarella bruschetta with tomato either hot or cold. Although we serve them cold we have to toast the bread. We can do it in the toaster, on the griddle or in a frying pan. But the truth is that the best way to toast them is in the oven. In addition, if we toast them in the oven we will spread them before with a little oil and a majao of garlic.
Since we are going to put them in the oven, we can manage them for a few minutes once they are ready to melt the mozzarella. But it is a matter of taste and you can omit this step perfectly.
Let’s go with the recipe step by step:
Being a very simple preparation and with very versatile ingredients, we can give them a different touch by adding other ingredients or dressings.
We can decorate them with a few slices of black olives. In addition this way we will give a touch more color.
We can substitute the basil for some baby spinach leaves. Even put them under the tomato and make a third layer with them.
They will also look great with anchovies or even cooked ham.
As for the spices, you can add whatever you like. Try sprinkling a little oregano or Provencal herbs when you are going to serve them, they will be delicious!
