Irish Coffee, Whiskey Coffee Recipe

Irish coffee is a famous cocktail made with coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar and semi whipped cream. It is the best known Irish drink outside its borders (next to Guinness Beer, of course). It is a powerful coffee designed to improve the body and wake us up very well, but it is not to be drunk every day! If you also want to try it, do not miss the Irish coffee recipe, the famous and popylar coffee with whiskey.

This coffee should be drunk without mixing the cream with the rest of the ingredients and taking the cream little by little after each sip of coffee. In such a way that in each sip you can perfectly distinguish all its ingredients. Although there are those who prefer to mix it all, it is only a matter of taste.

History of the Irish Coffee

This coffee dates back to the 40’s of the twentieth century. Specifically, we have to go back to the year 1942. In the middle of a heavy storm, an American flight landed at Foynes Air Base, Ireland. The chef at the airport restaurant, Joe Sheridan, decided to prepare a drink that would both warm and soothe the passengers of the flight that had just landed in such terrible conditions. He came up with the idea of mixing freshly brewed coffee with a little Irish whiskey. This is how this potent coffee was born.

Years later, the owner of an important coffee shop convinced the creator of this recipe to travel with him to North America; to sell it in his bar. Sheridan accepted, thus turning this cocktail into one of the most famous coffees in the world.

After its fame, the combination of coffee with alcoholic beverages spread throughout Europe; thus giving birth to, among others, Viennese coffee.
