Coinciding with the Independence Day of the United States, the day on which the Caesar Salad was born, according to its history, its day is also celebrated. Join us to celebrate Caesar Salad Day, the most consumed salad in the world.
We know there’s a day for everything. And this salad, so popular all over the world, could not be less. Made with lettuce and croutons, over time ingredients were added that today are as iconic as chicken. All this accompanied with the sauce that gives it its name: Caesar sauce, which gives the salad a unique touch, its characteristic creaminess and unique flavor.
This famous salad was created by an Italian immigrant Caesar Cardini, who works in a restaurant in Mexico.
Cardini received one 4th of July a large group of people who wanted to celebrate the Independence Day of the United States. Due to the dry law, they were going all the way down to Mexico so they could drink some alcohol in their celebration.
Cardini had to improvise when he received this large, unexpected group. He came up with the Caesar Salad, combining the few ingredients he had left and serving it with a familiar sauce.
A sauce made with milk, Parmesan and anchovies among others.
It’s funny how this salad has triumphed in the country of hamburgers. The combination of ingredients makes it a very refreshing dish. A very refreshing dish, appetizing, and in addition, hearty despite being a salad. Because of the croutons, the sauce and the chicken, if we add it, it serves perfectly as a unique dish.
And the best way to celebrate this day is to prepare a spectacular Caesar Salad.
In addition, it is a very versatile dish, and we can innovate by adding or changing ingredients as we like. Have you tried changing the chicken for smoked salmon or Gravlax?
This is only one of the existing versions of this salad, because with the enormous fame it has been acquiring over the years, different recipes have been appearing that are just as good as the classic Caesar Salad.
When the egg was cooked for a few minutes, it was considered raw, so it was illegal to serve this salad due to the Californian laws.
